Serious about work, not about ourselves.

Amélie Company has a lot of diversity for a small Colorado agency, from our personality
types to our origins. French, American, Venezuelan, Belgian, Australian…

It's these combined cultures and talents that make our daily work environment
so fun and creative.

Q & A with Paul Suggett

Creative Director

Paul Suggett / Creative Director at Amelie Company

Which movie could you watch over and over? Amadeus never gets old. The best casting of any movie, ever. The story, the music, the art direction, the acting, the direction, it was flawless. And on the other side of the coin, Blazing Saddles, This Is Spinal Tap and Office Space.

In what subject are you a trivia buff? I'm a movie nerd and an ad geek. I'm no expert, but I know a thing or three about those subjects. I also have a big collection of movie scores.

Do you follow any sports? Whenever England plays in the World Cup or European Cup, I'm glued to the set. I've been in America for almost nine years and I still get confused by American Football.

Fave vacation spot? Guam. My wife and her family are from Guam, it's a fabulous place, with the most awesome food, weather, beaches and scenery.

Who do you idolize? Bill Bernbach, no contest. He revolutionized the industry and his agency created some of the best ads ever written.

Do you have a favorite quote? "It's not creative unless it sells" by David Ogilvy is my favorite. Sell the product or service, and sell it well. Stay on brand. And do it in a way that is both creative and effective.

What would you do if you weren't in advertising? I would have loved to follow in the footsteps of Ray Harryhausen, Tom Savini, Jim Henson and Stan Winston. To spend your days in a creature workshop making outlandish effects for movies, that doesn't sound like a bad way to earn a crust.

Favorite musicians? The Black Keys, Paul Weller, AC/DC, The Beatles, Soundgarden, Supergrass, Monster Magnet, The Stone Roses, Led Zeppelin (of course) and Jimi Hendrix.

Why do you love your job and Amélie? I get to sit with a bunch of creative people and think up new ways to have an impact on consumers and society. And Amelie gives me the freedom to think creatively and explore new ways to reach people, in an environment that fosters and encourages creative thinking. I can't think of a better combination.

The first rule of Lunch Club, you don't talk about Lunch Club. The second rule of Lunch Club... Just kidding. Actually it's team sport cooking at it's best, every Thursday. Pull up a seat.
